Is Meditation Relaxation?
Is meditation relaxation? Or Is meditation a fancy word for relaxing? Not really. We seem to think that relaxing can be sitting in front of TV watching your favourite box set or movie. This is not really relaxing. Qi Gong is a fantastic way of relaxing the mind and body together, and when done properly, is immediately effective. To relax the mind and body properly, we need to be free from outside distractions, pre conceptions and conditioning.
This is really all to do with the brain and how it works. Neurogenesis and neuroplasticity are really what we want to create in our brain. Neurogenesis is creating new neurones in the brain and neuroplasticity is creating new pathways in the brain. When we run round in perpetual circles in our daily life, we tend to sleepwalk. All in all, meditation can help you break this habit of sleepwalking through your life.
Meditation Is Far More Than Just Relaxation
Definitely, meditation is far more than just relaxing, although this is one of the wonderful side effects of the practise. With meditation, you can create good new habits, which will help reprogramme your subconscious and lead you to a more fulfilling and interesting life. I remember being taught at the school that once the brain cells die, that is it.
Now there is research telling us that this so-called fact is wrong with certain areas of the brain. That is a phenomenal discovery to realise that you can actually recreate parts of brain, and therefore recreate you, whenever you want. It is a choice.
Meditation Will Help You See More Into The Complexities Of Life
To empower ourselves to realise that life is just perception, and you have a choice to decide which perception is real, I am afraid relaxation probably will not help you see this. Meditation definitely will, when you get deep enough into it. I am not saying that it is a bad thing to relax, because it is not.
But I know after a Qi Gong class, a sound toning session, a guided meditation or a silent meditation, I do feel relaxed and revitalised. That can’t always be said for an evening sitting down watching TV all night. I have created a webinar of 5 meditation techniques for you to try where you can experience them first hand. All you need to do is click the link below the picture below. Please do let me know how you get on.
